MS announces Xbox Originals

Yesterday Microsoft announced a new feature to be added in the next Dashboard Update coming Dec. 4th. The new feature will be Xbox Originals which allows you to download old games from the first Xbox. Some games that were named in the press release were Halo, Psychonauts, Crimson Skies and Fable. The games are priced at 1200 microsoft point and there has been no other details released.

What is the benefit in downloading these games? Will they be upscaled? or will they have achievements? who knows, we will have to wait for more details.

Bringing it Home: Comic-Con 2007

The Marketplace is a beautiful place where you can play demos, get arcade games, watch trailers, movies and even coverage on some video game conventions. Bringing it Home has brought us videos from conventions like E3 and TGS, but this time they are bringing the comics home. An ad up on the marketplace announced Bringing it Home will be covering Comic-Con 2007. Why? who knows, but I’m happy. Microsoft hasn’t mentioned any details on what kind of content they will be giving. I’m hoping for some good gamerpics. I’ve been dying for a new picture.

Be ready, Comic-Con starts in a couple days on July 26th and will run through the 29th.

SPFIITHDR Themes and Wallpapers

Over at Capcom Digital, Brian Dunn has once again surprised us with a preview of the upcoming HD Remixes. This time a picture of three themes; a female fighter theme, a male fighter theme and a group theme. Some with new backgrounds taken from the new game, that he mentions will come “very soon”.

But to our surprise, Brian also announces that because of the huge response he has gotten from the vote on which character should be in the picture pack, he decided (and got approved) to include all 11 characters in one picture pack. Yet the price hasn’t been announced, it is mentioned to be at a “low price”.

Brian again rewards us with new wallpapers. [“wowikazowi!” Merril Howard Kalin] This one of Chun-Li and Sakura in front of Ken’s new stage.

Project Sylpheed demo available on the marketplace

A demo of Project Sylpheed is now available on the marketplace. Set to release in July for $39.99, the game is described as an “arcade-style space combat game” with “intense action and vivid graphics”. This game is 3-D makeover of Silpheed on the Sega CD.

I had the chance to play for a good half an hour and found myself staring at a screen full of targets, labels, bars, numbers, lasers, bullets, missiles, colors, stars and flashing warning signs. On top of that AI teammates screaming at me and the sound of missiles whizzing by. There is obviously a lot going on one screen and if you like space shooters, or that list of distractions seems something you may like, then you should definitely check it out!
[note: If you’re like me and haven’t played a game like this in a long while and still have to warm up to flight controls all over again, you may find yourself spinning in circles.]

Prince of Persia Classic comparison

Prince of Persia Classic was released onto the marketplace yesterday for 800 Microsoft Points. The game is a remake of the original Prince of Persia, but has renewed graphics. Also added into the xbox 360 arcade version are new traps, enemies and some new puzzles. Don’t forget it has survival mode where you attempt to complete the game within an hour, like the normal mode, but with only one life. Sounds hard seeing how most of the stages are only passed by trial and error. Survival mode is more for the hardcore Prince of Persia fans who enjoyed the original.

I purchased the game and played a few levels. Honestly, I played the original version, but I was too young to remember it at all. I don’t even remember if i passed the first stage. The game is obviously looks much better than the original but from the video it seems the gameplay is almost exact to the original. If you’ve played and remember the original this may not be a wise purchase for you, unless you want to make your attempt to the survival mode or even the time trails to claim your spot on the leaderboards. But if this is your first time, this would definitely be a great time to experience the original Prince of Persia which brought the series into the spotlight.

This video can be found at It shows the comparison between the original port on the PC and Genesis to the new revised XBLA version.

ShadowRun Demo coming

A demo of Shadowrun was supposed to come out yesterday, but was delayed and planned to release Today, June 7th at 2am PDT. So be ready for some new download content on the marketplace.

By the way, I’ve picked up the game and wrote a review on it here. If you haven’t had the chance to play, you should definitely give the demo a try at least. Its sold out at every EB Games, Funcoland and Gamestop around here. No one has returned any back to the store. What i hear from most people i talk to about the game, is that they like it also. Seems like the people who really hate it are the ones that haven’t tried it. Lets just say, I haven’t played Halo3 beta since i got the game. That could be because the three maps have been quite repetative. Its only a demo, go try it!
