EA Showcase 07- Army of Two impressions

Hey everyone! i made it back safely from the EA Showcase and i just want to say thanks Mike for letting me take your place and represent TheXboxDomain. To be honest, this was my first press event and i was pretty nervous at the start, but i still had tons of fun. Anyways, i can talk about my experiences later, lets get to Army of Two.

I really didn’t know what to expect when i walked into the first breakout room, but the second i stepped in i saw Army of Two and i did not hesitate to pick up a controller and play with a dev. I had the chance to play for a while and i must admit, i was impressed. I jumped in the middle of a battle and it took me a few minutes to get used to the controls, but as soon i got the hang of it, the game was a blast to play. As you know, the game is based on cooperative gameplay. Though it may seem like another shooter on the 360, there are many things that set this game apart.

A big part of the way the game is played is how you take advantage of the “aggrometer” and your surroundings. The aggrometer is a bar which is shared between the two players which acts very much like a seesaw. If all the enemies are focused on one player, the other player is open to sneak around and possibly flank the enemy. You can also have one player shoot some rounds which can give the other player time to heal. Aside from the aggrometer there are many other strategies you could use to help each other out. Like covering a buddy with a riot shield, back-to-back shooting or boosting over a wall to get a shot.

I didn’t have the chance to play for very long though, since i had to try out other games, but overall i really like the direction it’s going. The graphics are great! It’s sharp, it’s detailed and it was “post alpha” only. I was able to use lots of guns and they mentioned that the team keeps adding more and more as they work with the game. I definitely want to see what else they have to come.
