Hey guys, just want to let you know about a site i stumbled on, Glinkster.com. Oddly, i found the site through myspace.  I liked the site from the beginning and instantly found myself contributing to their community daily. To make it short, it is similar to Digg.com, but solely created for games only. check it out!

Here is their press release:

Glinkster Launched: Links for Gamers by Gamers

San Jose, CA – August 2007 — Glinkster (www.glinkster.com) is officially open for business. Glinkster is a social news site like Digg.com, but devoted specifically for gamers. Gamers submit links and the community votes on the best and most relevant links that make it to the front page. But Glinkster doesn’t believe all votes are created equal.

Glinkster has designed an advanced algorithm that measures the quality of a user’s interaction with the site. The higher the user’s quality – the higher the user’s Glink Score. The Higher the Glink Score – the more weight that user will have when voting on a link. This was designed to reward quality and loyal users and ensure that the front of Glinkster is managed by users that really care about game news.

Glinkster also enables social bookmarking. If a gamer wants to save a specific link, he or she simply ‘saves’ it, and it will be saved in that user’s bookmarks.

Since launching in June, 2007, Glinkster has experienced explosive growth. Glinkster was already announced as a ‘Killer Startup*’ and users have been flocking to the site to get the latest news and game links. Users have said they like the competition aspect of the Glink Score, but also the community component of interacting with other gamers.

Glinkster V1 is testing out some new features that may or may not make it to version 2. But Glinkster has huge vision for what the site and community can become in the future.

In the end, we wanted Glinkster to be “owned” by the community. It is their site. They dictate what is relevant to gamers and what is not. That’s the theory behind the Glink Score algorithm and the ranking algorithm. But more than anything, we want Glinkster to be a fun place for gamers to hang out and build communities.
