The Ultimate Console: psWii60

In a perfect world; you would only have to buy one console to play the games you want to play. Would Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo make more money if they made one console? Maybe, maybe not.

The console war has begun with PS3 and Wii releasing not too long ago and the Xbox Elite coming out just a few days ago. Many people have chosen their weapons and have begun the fanboy battle. The console war is a gruesome one and no one can agree on a true winner. It will last up to the point when these consoles are taken off the shelves. The problems with choosing which console excels over the three, is that all consoles are directed to a different consumer group. With the Wii capturing the family and light hearted gamers, Playstation3 for the Hardcore gamers and Digital Media whores and the Xbox 360 attempting to attract gamers of all kinds, a winner cant be chosen.

Imagine… it plays every game you wanted. Connects you to all other gamers around the world for free. Doesn’t compete with other consoles but competes with PCs. A console that can do it all and not over-heat. Its the PsWii60 of course! When only the games matter.

Everyone has thought of it once; Only having to buy one console. The term PsWii60 is not new, and it has been used many times. Why make the releases of 3 great consoles into a war between companies? How about we play Victor Frankenstein and put together the greatest console to ever sit in our house.

  • Disc Drive: Plays Blue Ray discs.
  • HDD: 120gb Hard Drive.
  • Hardware: Using the Cell Broadband Engine and guts of the PS3.
  • Ports:HDMI, Component, Optical Out, 4 USB ports. Supporting 1080p and 7.1 surround sound.
  • Controller: Exterior design of the Xbox360. Supports both rumble and six-axis motion sensing.
  • Ring of Light and Xbox Guide Button:Featured on both the wireless and wired controllers, the Xbox Guide button puts you in control of your experience. In addition to bringing up the Xbox Gamer Guide and the Xbox System Guide, the Xbox Guide button lets you turn the system on and off without ever leaving the couch.
  • Xbox LIVE:Gamertags and gamer cards, talk with others using voice chat, and access Xbox LIVE Marketplace. No need to pay to play your games online. [the ability to create clans and give the clan a gamerpic would be awesome. Allow Clan chat rooms too. That would be awesome huh?]
  • Xbox LIVE Marketplace: Movies, TV shows, Demos, Themes, Gamer Pics, etc. All can be purchased by Microsoft’s point system.
  • Digital entertainment:Rip music to the Xbox 360 hard drive and share your latest digital pictures with friends. Make the connection, and Xbox 360 instantly streams the digital media stored on your MP3 player, digital camera, and any PC.
  • Network: Console can connect to the Internet through both wireless and Lan Connection.
  • Size: About 8.5 inches long, 6 inches wide and less than 2 inches thick (roughly the size of 3 DVD cases stacked on top of each other).
  • Virtual Console: Allows you to purchase classic and new games with Microsoft points.

I really wouldn’t care if it costs as much as the PS3 or maybe a little more. I ended up purchasing an Xbox 360 and a Wii anyways.
If i had to choose one feature from each console, it would be Xbox360’s Xbox live (marketplace and all), Wii’s console design and PS3’s Blue Ray discs. I’ve asked some people what they would choose, and a lot of them chose the Xbox live as one of the features.

What features would you choose from the three systems?

  2. 2 Me May 3, 2007 at 11:11 am

I think Wii Remote is the perfect controller

  3. 3 Lenny May 3, 2007 at 12:02 pm

The PSWii60 should have the controller of the wii, the cell processor from the PS3 and XBox live for free.

Risk: Yeah i had many answers like that.

  5. 5 stretch May 3, 2007 at 12:42 pm

There is nothing included from the wii or the ps3 (besides bluray and processor) in your article…

You just described a PS3. Seemingly the PS3’s failings are that the home functionality hasn’t been released and not enough games have been released that are aimed at a more light hearted audience that use the six-axis…. so in a matter of time, the console you described, will be the PS3.

sonys hardware microsofts software nintendos innovation.

Intersting, the console you just described actually exits, It’s Playstation 3 and it is already out, It has blu Ray, Cell, Free Live, Home and rest of features you described for PSwii60.

So there you go guys, buy a PS3 and enjoy!>

Stretch: the PS3 features i have listed are the free connections, the processing engine, six axis, blue ray,7.1 surround(but im not sure if you can get that out of optical out on 360) and the ports.

The wii features would pretty much just be the design of the console its self. A big part of Wii’s console is the games anyways. I love the wii myself, i wouldnt consider myself a xbox360 fanboy, but it does attract me as a consumer because of the different games they offer.

OKGO: The PS3 is a great system. That is for sure. Hardware is top of the line, but right now they have no games. Its hard to admit but it is true. Once they release Metal Gear, FF and some good, sony owned, exclusive games. They will be on the minds of gamers once again. Sony is a smart company, but i think the system they have created is too good, too early. The market for blue ray may blow up soon, maybe not. I find it too risky to use a new type of disc when you cant really foresee it’s success in the future. In a few years when the PS3 price drops a 100 or more, they will win the “console war” in the end. But don’t count out on the 360, they wont go down kicking. Especially since their games CAN reach to 1080p and output great sound. The only problem for making games for 360 is in the future, developers will be looking for more space on a disc and Blue ray will have it.

Miguel Rodriquez: nintendo’s innovation. *nods* i love nintendo mainly because they always want to take the right step into gaming. They want to evolve the gaming experience instead of upgrading the looks.

Magus JCF: I think you are right.

They should have got more games out with the launch.

The XBox360 is fun, but having played on all three it seems neither here (Wii) nor there (PS3).

Main beef with the “combined” thing is that you still want to use MS points for purchases and whatnot, I mean honestly, I’d rather see exactly what I’m spending rather than some marketing fools idea of “Look you have LOTS of currency”

  12. 12 Magus JCF May 3, 2007 at 3:31 pm

yeah very true. Im not a big fan of the point system either. Sometimes you have to buy more than you really want to use.
I also think the 360 controller should have the ps3’s dpad or just something better.

  13. 13 gameguy May 3, 2007 at 4:56 pm

The controller would have to be the PS3 controller. Sony’s design is perfect. The xbox controller makes no sense having the thumbsticks at different levels-makes for lop-sided control during first person games.

  14. 14 floxnard May 3, 2007 at 5:10 pm

I agree that the xbox live has some cooler features, but I wouldn’t have used microsoft points, I would’ve personally used standard currency. I hate proprietary monetary systems. They’re such monopolies really. I also would like all the buttons of the six-axis, but in a 360 controller case that can transform into a wii case when needed. And the web browser would work at full speed and be fully functional, like a pc’s web browser. And it would be able to run windows and mac instead of just linux. And it would be able to kill a liger for you.

    Exellent post my man!

  16. 16 bootsielon May 3, 2007 at 7:02 pm

    For the controller:

Split PS3 controller in two, don’t remove any buttons, add a Wii sensor on top of the TV and add rumble and you have the perfect controller (or take the Saturn controller, add two analogue triggers, analogue thumbsticks, rumble and split it like I said above).

Hardware: 360s RAM and GPU, PS3’s Cell and Blu-ray discs, 250 gigabytes HDD

Online: the best of PlayStation Home AND Xbox LIVE, and of course, all of the online games

It wouldn’t work anyway. Competition makes the industry be healthy. If there was no competition, PSWii60 would be as powerful as a Wii, have almost nothing, and have overpriced games. The industry would die.

It would be nice if it was DVR recorder, plays regular DVD’s, and play all the games from different consoles.! Also, would be nice if it played ps2 games!

  23. 25 Jones June 10, 2009 at 5:01 am

I think that the new console should be able to play games from the other countries.
